New Shinies!
For all Patrons, I have a brand new short story available tomorrow from the Encounters collection. It's a 10,500-word story featuring Cam called Blood Work.
I love Cam. I think he's a favourite for most people who've read my Silverse novels. But while he appears in every one of them, he rarely gets a starring role. When I eventually gave him his own POV (in Sovereign), he was in a very bad place and was no longer the bouncy, Labrador of a person I'd come to know and love in Solis Invicti.
Blood Work is an attempt to rectify that a little, to see Cam before Shit Went Down. It follows him and Ed as they arrive in Oxford for the first time and, although it's not entirely a happy story, gives a glimpse into Cam's life in happier times. One of my beta readers was pretty upset when the story finished and wants to see more stories of Cam's adventures in Oxford, so it's entirely possible that you might see more of these stories in the future.
She's very persuasive 😂
For Patrons of Tertius tier and above, I have chapters 1-3 of In Camera (Seekers Book 2) coming tomorrow, the very first chapters of the sequel to May Day! In Camera is a murder mystery, in which vampires are the ones doing the investigating. It's set in the Silverse, the same world as the rest of my vampire novels, and takes place before Solis Invicti.
Altogether, chapters 1-3 are about 8,500 words. The rest of the chapters will be coming over the next nine months, and will be available until May (so new Patrons will have access to all draft chapters so far).
News
In writing news, I'm busily drafting In Camera. That's probably going to take me until mid-October, so I won't have much other writing news until then!
In reading news, I'm still slogging through the Lotus War trilogy by Jay Kristoff. It's just not holding my attention like I hoped it would. I was supposed to read the whole thing this month, but I've got a feeling it's going to be dragging into August...
In other news, I've just revealed the cover for my new Atlantis-inspired YA novel, The Wolf and The Water! See all the details and preorder here.
