New Shinies!

For all Patrons, I have a brand new short story available tomorrow from the Broken Wings collection. It's a 10,000-word SFF story called SnapShot.

This story was incredibly difficult to write, but in the end I'm really pleased with the way it came out. I kept finding myself distracted by the general Coronavirus awfulness, which wanted to creep into the story. I had to resist that hard, because I didn't want to write a pandemic story and I didn't think you'd want to read it either.

So I took a break for a couple of months to let the story develop. The result is a pretty dark story (because my non-Silverse short stories always seem to be!), but at least it's not about COVID-19!

For Patrons of Tertius tier and above, I have chapters 19-28 of May Day (Seekers Book 1) coming tomorrow. May Day is a murder mystery, in which vampires are the ones doing the investigating. It's set in the Silverse, the same world as the rest of my vampire novels, and takes place before Solis Invicti.

Altogether, chapters 19-28 are a about quarter of the book (!). Chapters 1-18 are already available to higher-tier patrons, and will be available until September (so new Patrons will have access to all draft chapters so far).

News

In writing news, I'm just about to do a significant redraft of The Wolf and The Water, a YA Fantasy inspired by Atlantis, which I'll be releasing in the Autumn.

In reading news, I'm just about to start reading The Lies of Locke Lamora, which I've heard so many good things about.

In other news, it was my birthday on Thursday, which I celebrated by ordering cupcakes for myself from Lola's in London. They were AMAZING!
