Patreon: Last Chances & New Shinies

Updated: Jul 31, 2020

Here's my monthly update of new things coming to my Patreon in December, and the content that will be unavailable after today. If you would like to become one of my patrons, just click the Patreon icon below, or copy the link and paste it into your browser to go to my Patreon page.

Last Chance!

Today is the very last day that you can access Ring the Bell, the first story in my new Broken Wings collection. It's the most grimdark thing I've ever written. I cried while I was writing it, and my lovely assistant Asha cried while she was proofreading it.

It is bleak, but I'm really pleased with it. It's a dark dystopian story that has been churning around in my head for ages, but it feels particularly timely at the moment. It's a chunky beast at 8,000 words, and it's a standalone story. Ring the Bell is available to Patrons who sign up before the end of November.

New Shinies!

For all Patrons, I have a brand new short story available tomorrow from the Broken Wings collection. It's called Last Christmas, and it's a 10,000-word SF story that follows a small group of people trying to survive in the wake of catastrophic flooding. It was supposed to be a moral tale, but it wanted to be a dragon, so I let it. I loved it enough that I might write more in its world in the future.

For Patrons of Tertius tier and above, I have chapters 9-10 of May Day (Seekers Book 1) coming tomorrow. May Day is a murder mystery, in which vampires are the ones doing the investigating. It's set in the Silverse, the same world as the rest of my vampire novels, and takes place before Solis Invicti.

Altogether, chapters 9-10 are about 7,000 words. Chapters 1-8 were made available earlier this year, and will be available until September next year (so new Patrons will have access to all draft chapters so far).

These latest two chapters follow Jack and the team as they investigate a new suspect, then go out drinking to commiserate when things don't go as expected. Jack also has a (sort of) date. Suffice it to say, she is not good at dating!

News

In writing news, I'm continuing with my first draft of May Day, and working on my short stories for Patreon.

In reading news, I've just finished Queen of Nothing by Holly Black, which was everything I hoped it would be. I'm devastated that the series is over!

In other news, I'm currently running a giveaway for members of my Facebook fan group. Join here.
