Last Chance!

Today is the very last day that you can access Cara Mia and Bella Donna, two Encounters short stories that take place before the beginning of the Solis Invicti series.

Cara Mia is a 7,000-word story with M/F romance, which follows Cara Alton and starts to explain the events that put the Revelation in motion. Bella Donna is a 5,000-word teaser for a future series that will take place before Solis Invicti. Both stories are available to Patrons who sign up before the end of October.

If you do miss out, then all is not lost: you can always join my Readers' Club to get a free copy of both stories.

New Shinies!

For all Patrons, I have a brand new short story available tomorrow from the Encounters collection. It's called Ungilded, and it fills in a few of the gaps between the end of the Solis Invicti series and the beginning of the Sovereign series. For the first time, I'm following Solomon, giving you a glimpse inside his head. It came out a little long (11,000 words), but it covers a lot of ground. All the usual suspects appear too, and for the Drew fans, I'm giving away a few hints about where he ends up.

For Patrons of Tertius tier and above, I have chapters 7-8 of May Day (Seekers Book 1) coming tomorrow. May Day is a murder mystery, in which vampires are the ones doing the investigating. It's set in the Silverse, the same world as the rest of my vampire novels, and takes place before Solis Invicti.

Altogether, chapters 7-8 are about 5,000 words. Chapters 1-6 were made available earlier this year, and will be available until September next year (so new Patrons will have access to all draft chapters so far).

These latest two chapters follow Jack and the team as they follow up on the leads they have so far, but Jack is far from happy to have an uninvited guest assisting in the investigation. And when Jack gets unhappy, she has a habit of making her feelings known!

News

In writing news, I'm continuing with my first draft of May Day, and planning a new middle-grade adventure book. I've also been doing some research for a historical YA I hope to start writing next year.

In reading news, I'm in the middle of reading Z for Zachariah by Robert C. O'Brien, which is horribly tense. I've been doing a lot of non-fiction reading this month too, particularly about forensics and psychopathy, partly as research for May Day and another project on which I'm working at the moment. You can always follow my reviews on Goodreads (link in footer) if you're interested in what I'm reading, and what I thought of it.

In other news, I'm currently having a sale in my online store. Check it out here.
