Patreon: Last Chances & New Shinies
Updated: Jul 31, 2020
If you're a regular reader of this blog, you might remember that I set up a Patreon account in August, with brand new and exclusive short stories and draft novel chapters available for Patrons. From now on, I'll be posting here once a month to let you know what new material is coming next month, and what content is about to be removed. So, here we go!
Today is the very last day that you can access Killian's Dead, my short-story prequel to May Day (Seekers Book 1), which is the novel I'm writing at the moment.
Killian's Dead is a 10,000-word story with F/F romance, intrigue and kick-assery, and the digital download is available to all Patrons who sign up before the end of September.
If you do miss out, then all is not lost: you can always become one of my higher-tier patrons and receive a FREE chapbook print copy of the story.
For all Patrons, I have a brand new short story available tomorrow from a brand new collection. The story is called Ring the Bell, the first story in my new Broken Wings collection, and it's the most grimdark thing I've ever written. I cried while I was writing it, and my lovely assistant Asha cried while she was proofreading it. It is bleak, but I'm really pleased with it. It's a dark dystopian story that has been churning around in my head for ages, but it feels particularly timely at the moment. It's a chunky beast at 8,000 words, and it's a standalone story.
For Patrons of Tertius tier and above, I have chapters 3-6 of May Day (Seekers Book 1). May Day is a murder mystery, in which vampires are the ones doing the investigating. It's set in the Silverse, the same world as the rest of my vampire novels.
Altogether, chapters 3-6 are about 10,000 words. Chapters 1 & 2 were made available earlier this month, and will be available until September next year (so new Patrons will have access to all draft chapters so far).
I'm really happy with these four chapters. They're fun and messy and show my main character, Jack, at her most vindictive and unpleasant, particularly when her old nemesis from Killian's Dead comes back on the scene. I'm looking forward to carrying on with her story!
In writing news, I'm in the middle of writing May Day, the first book in my new Seekers series (a prequel to the Solis Invicti series, draft chapters available on Patreon).
In reading news, I finished the Selection series earlier this month and am about to start the accompanying short story collection.
In other news, I'm currently having a sale in my online store. Check it out here.
